On this tour you will discover by bicycle the enchanting region of Lake Balaton. The tour guides you through the most interesting part of southern and eastern shore of Balaton. The circle tour starts at Balatonfenyves, leads through Keszhely, Balatongyörök, Szigliget and Badacsony and back to Keszthely. At Keszhely the route leaves the Lake Balaton and goes 20 km north to Sümeg, lies at the Southwestern margin of the Bakony Mountains. From Sümeg it goes through picturesque Balaton Uplands area north of the Lake Balaton to Tótvázsony. From
Tótvázsony back to northern shore of Lake at Balatonfüred, then cross the lake at Tihany Peninsula From Szántód it leads on the southern shore of Lake Balaton back to Balatonfenyves, where the circle tour closes.Lake Balaton and its surroundings is the most beautiful region of Hungary. Balaton – often called as the "Hungarian sea" – is the biggest lake in Central Europe; its water is velvety smooth and tepid, warming up quickly in summer to reach a temperature of 20-26 °C. It is rich in natural beauty spots, historic values and folklore traditions, it is a popular
resort area both for Hungarian and foreigners. The length is 77 kilometres and its width ranges from 4 to 14 kilometres. Numerous sandy beaches along the shore make it an ideal place for holiday. The trip around the lake will make you amazed by natural beauties .On the sunlit slopes running towards the lake there has been grape and wine production going on since centuries.Either by bicycle or on foot but you will surely find the most fabulous and wonderful face of Lake Balaton and one of the memorable moments will call you back, to Lake Balaton!



Day 1: Arrival in Balatonfenyves

Arriving individually to the resort place Balatonfenyves, a wonderful nature reserve situated in south coast of Lake Balaton, in the heart of hunting ground Nagyberek (Marshland). Accommodation in a three star Hotel in Balatonfenyves.

Day 2: Balatonfenyves - Keszthely, Hévíz (42 km)

Biking to Keszthely, the town is not only a bathing resort but also a cultural center of the Lake. Here you can find the wonderful Festetics Palace. The baroque palace is open for public, visitors can admire here the reach collection of local-history museum. Sightseeing in Keszthely. Afternoon trip to the Héviz Spa, and bathing in the Thermal Lake. Héviz is a world famous spa resort near the Lake Balaton. The 36°C water is rushing up from 39 metres deep and is excellent for handling rheumatic diseases. Accommodation in Keszthely

Day 3: Keszthely - Badacsony (60 km)

You will ride on the shore of Lake Balaton through Balatongyörök, Szigliget to Badacsony.On the road you can enjoy one of the most beautiful view of Hungary , walk up to the ruins of the a fortress on Szigliget hill, swim in the lake, and test the famous wines of Badacsony and take a voyage backward to Keszthely, where you stay overnight.

Day 4: Keszthely - Sümeg (35 km)

Bicycle tour to Sümeg, known by its medieval castle. On the road to Sümeg near Zalaszántó you will ride between Rezi and Tátika Hills hide the ruins of two old castle and Kovácsi Hill, where you can discover a Buddhist Stupa. Slopes and rises diversify the route as it leads through romantic villages of the Balaton-Highlands. Accommodation in Sümeg in a familiar hotel at the foot of the castle hill.

Day 5: Sümeg - Tótvázsony (50km)

Bicycle tour through the nature reserve of Balaton-Highlands to Tótvázsony.
Visit the medieval castle in Nagyvázsony.
Your accommodation will be in the mansion hotel Tótvázsony, can be found deep in the forest.


Day 6: Tótvázsony - Balatonfüred, Tihany (30 km)

The brakes are featuring this day. Rolling 12 km long down you will be on the shore of Balaton again. Quickly you will find yourself in Balatonfüred, which is one of the oldest settlements around the lake. Nowadays it is a spa with teeming life, offering many possibilities to amuse yourself. Accommodation in Balatonfüred. Afternoon trip to Tihany. Cycling to the volcanic-origin Tihany Peninsula, whose whole area is a Landscape Protection Reserve. The abbey rising on the peninsula was founded by monks in 1055. It is worth climbing up the short but steep slope leading to the abbey, the most beautiful view of the Balaton opens from here.

Day 7: Balatonfüred - Balatonfenyves (50 km)

For a change, first a boot-ride to the southern side of the lake, then ride back to Balatonfenyves through popular spots of southern shore include Balatonföldvár, Balatonlelle, Balatonboglár and Fonyód. In spite you should fulfill one of the longest (50 km) riding distance of the tour on this day, you will have still enough time to stop for a swim and relax in the water. Reaching the Globe lookout tower in Balatonboglár or Sipos Hill in Fonyód do not miss to climb up on the hill and enjoy the beautiful panorama of Balaton.
